How to Make the Most of Your First Napa Valley Wine Tour

By platypustours, 20 October, 2026

Your first Napa Valley wine tour should feel easy, relaxed, memorable and connecting. That's how we approach it at Platypus. Our small-group tours typically have 8–12 guests, with 14 maximum, and visit three smaller-production, hidden-gem wineries. Winery selections change daily, and your guide creates the day around variety and providing the best overall experience for the group.

If you're planning your first Napa Valley wine tour, don't worry about researching every winery before you arrive. You can share your preferences when booking, then leave the rest to someone who knows wine country. And if you return for another tour, we keep track of the wineries you've visited with us. Tell us about any you've visited independently, too, and we'll do our best to introduce you to new places.

Small-group tours are $139 per person, seven days a week, and include a tasty picnic lunch and plenty of bottled water. Tours often include Northern Napa Valley wineries, although specific areas aren't guaranteed. If Northern Napa is important to you, mention it when reserving and your guide will do their best to include it.
